Please find within the minutes of the Asselby parish Council meeting held on the 11th September 2025 in The Black Swan public house.
Agenda
- Apologies for absence and signing off the minutes from 10th July.
- Apologies received from D. Walker, A Macchi and G Franklin. In attendance: M Smith, R Pickergill, C Lewis, M Clarke and P Adams (Clerk).
- No declarations by a member of an interest in any of the following.
- Matters Arising
- Speed signage – MS – discussion was held around the speed limits registering on Sat Nav devices and that these do not match the new speed limits. PA to contact highways to see if there is a way to rectify.
- Council Communication – PA- reinforcing the need to ensure either the Chair or Clerk are made aware of any contacts undertaken on council business before this is attempted. This is purely to ensure the council are not double contacting over issues.
- Flyer wording- PA- submitted by PA and agreed by council. PA to forward to RP for printing. RP to contact SH regarding distribution.
- Christmas tree and Carol concert-PA- discussion around date and planning for the day. Erection of the tree to take place on Saturday 29th November. Assistance greatly appreciated. Carol service will take place on the same day.
- Remembrance Day-PA- to be finalised at the rearranged APC full meeting on 6th November
- Westfield Lane update-RP- no progress reported as yet
- Accounts
- HSBC – current financial statement- PA reported a current account balance of £2986 with the second part of income due this month.
- Planning Matters- no new applications.
- Discussion around recent planning committee meeting- PA – discussion was held around the comments made at the ERYC planning committee and the feeling of them being dismissive of the parish feelings. RP proposed taking further action but no second was received.

- Any other business – MS-highways footpath between Asselby and Knedlington is getting overgrown and PA to follow up with Highways regarding maintenance.
